Output for UK Construction industry falls in November 2015

According to recent figures from the Office for National Statistics, the output for the UK Construction Industry fell towards the end of last year. ‘Output’ is defined as the amount charged by construction firms to customers for the value of work (produced during the current reporting period) excluding payments to contractors and VAT.

The figures from the first half of 2015 indicated a positive outlook however a drop in output throughout summer and autumn extended into the winter months and resulted in a 1.1% decrease in output, the largest drop since May 2013.

There was an estimated decrease of 0.5% in Construction output in November 2015, compared with October 2015. Housing repair decreased by 0.2% while all new work was the largest contributor to decrease, by 0.7%. Overall figures for the output of the Construction Industry dropped by 1.1% compared to November 2014.

Sealing around beams with TorchOn Tanking Membrane

Visqueen TorchOn Tanking Membrane is a heavy duty waterproofing membrane for above & below ground applications, in both vertical and horizontal situations. This photo gallery shows the benefit of TorchOn membrane versus any polymeric or SAM system.

Visqueen TorchOn prevents the ingress of water and is ideal for use in cold weather conditions due to the hot bonding (torch bonding) installation process. The use of hot bonding in cold and sub-zero temperatures provides a homogenously sealed junction, which can otherwise be difficult to achieve in cold weather.

These photos show a good method of application when sealing around beams with TorchOn Tanking Membrane, it certainly shows the benefit of torch on versus any polymeric or SAM system.

BBA approved Damp Proof Membrane for use on commercial and domestic applications

Visqueen High Performance DPM – BBA Approved –  is Visqueen’s superior grade Damp Proof Membrane manufactured from prime virgin polymers for use as a Type “A” damp proof membrane as defined by BS EN 13967: 2012.

The Visqueen High Performance DPM is yellow in colour and available centre folded in 4m x 12.5m x 500um roll format.

DPMThe 500μm membrane is manufactured as a centre folded product to limit creases which aids jointing and welding applications on site.

Centre folded films can also help to reduce cracks found in structural concrete screeds where traditional multi-folded DPMs are used. Continue reading
